Tips from campers about Mount Rushmore KOA Resort at Palmer Gulch
- Tucker12 Mt Rushmore. Felt Crazy horse was expensive for what we saw - $30 and they really have made no progress on the monument since late 80's. Presidential was museum and mini golf are free admission with your park receipt - worth the time to go. Custer State Park. Ate at Peggy's home diner - nice. Went to Custer dog park twice - nice site. Downtown Custer was good - Keystone was very commercial - felt like an amusement park.

While the location is great the park itself could really use some help. Since we were there after labor day, all of the businesses and restaurants were closed, even though the park was packed. The...

The powder house is an excellent restaurant up near Bear country and I highly recommend it. You can visit rushmore, custer state park, crazy horse memorial all from this park.
“Large park”

Sites are close, and short. Since they were closing in a couple of days we parked at an angle on the grass. They charged $3.00 per dog per night. There was dog poo everywhere - I guess people just...

Tip for Other Campers:
During their season the park has many activities, large pool area, playground for the kids. Water slide, bike rentals, fishing pond. But most was closed for the season. Very close to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and other sites in the Black Hills.

“Park charges extra for Pets and their Dog Park is the worst we've seen at a KOA”
Nightly Rate: $78 USD
Beautiful Park in the Black Hills.
Dog Park was unsatisfactory especially when they charged extra for Pets. We camped at Mount Rushmore KOA Resort at Palmer Gulch in a Fifth Wheel.
