Tip for Other Campers:
Our Starlink worked well. Bring or rent their kayaks or canoes to get on the river. Visit the lake. We went to Appalachian caverns, which was about 35 minutes away. If you're into that stuff, Bristol caverns is pretty close also. If you have the America the Beautiful Access Pass, the discount is $9 off per night.

Tips from campers about Watauga Dam Campground
- Duran The park does not allow dog fences, pens or e-collars, so be prepared to leash/tether your dogs (or cats I imagine). Walmart, groceries, hardware, fast food all about 3 miles away.
