Tips from campers about Oneida, TN
- The JVs Lots of families on the weekend, watch out for the kiddos on their bikes and running around. Lots of hiking opportunities, Twin Arches on the west side is a real sight and less than one mile hike-- go see the arches!
- kott Jamestown is 25 min away so bring what you need. Big South Fork is huge and goes into Kentucky and Tennessee. Daniel Boone NF and Pickett State Forest borders the northern part. The campground is in Eastern Time Zone but the Central Time Zone cuts through the area a few miles west of the campground. We went to Sgt. Alvin C. York State Park (45 min away) which is in the Central Zone. They offer a driving tour and a house tour. The farm is interesting to explore and you can see the WWI replica trench, the general store, gristmill and other buildings. You can drive up to the Wolf River Methodist Church and to the cemetery where Alvin and Gracie are buried. There is a nice museum about him and what he has done for the community.
- lifeworthliving4 Come in from Jamestown. Switchbacks aren't so bad.
