Tips from campers about Fort Griffin State Park & Historic Site
- Ed Deal Bring your fishing pole, pre-download and night time documentaries, go to Albany Beehive for a bite if your not cooking/grilling.
- Phaeton_Driver Be sure and check out the displays, as well as the old fort building and things outside. It's all very well done, and well kept. Drive over to the scenic overlook to see the campground from above, and maybe get a good cell signal and check your email.
- Sharpe7tex The Fort area is across the road, there is a walk-way and a gate across the road. Visitor Center has handouts and trail maps. Ask about campfire talks.10 years ago Fort Griffin State Park & Historic Site

“Amazing”

If you can come in June, the Albany town Fandangle of the Fort Griffin and area history play is worthwhile. Ft Griffin Historical Site worth a trip as well....

Tip for Other Campers:
This is a state historic site and has a very well done visitor center and self-guided walking trail around the remains of the old fort. The visitor center and site of the old fort are across the highway from the campground, too far to walk but within easy driving distance. Campground check-in is done at the visitor center....
