“Old-school campground with no utilities, but great location for cave tours”
Nightly Rate: $25 USD
Basic unserviced campsites. Quiet, except for the occasional sound of generators. Site 55 is a pull thru, but recommend backing out, because big trees on both sides of the exit creates an awkward...

Tip for Other Campers:
Excellent museum in the Visitor Center, recommend doing this before a cave tour to better understand what you are seeing. Cave tours were sold out on the weekend that we were there so plan ahead. The Ranger takes 100 people through the cave tour. It is more walking than lecturing so we did not learn much on the tour except when Ranger answered questions.
“So quiet it was hard to turn on the generator after 5 pm.”
Nightly Rate: $12 USD
Tried 57, 71 and 77. 30' 5th wheel. Fall weekdays were easy to find a site, Summer and weekends you need an advance reservation. Take the Grand Avenue and River Styx tours. Longest and most variety....

Bikes are confined to old RR bed, roads and uncrowded sidewalks, hiking trails for foot traffic only. Lodge has limited dining choices but there's (almost) always a coffee shop and quick snack cafe open. All the food we tried was good.

“Quiet commune with nature”
Nightly Rate: $22 USD
Nice National Park. Not too many people, and most of the others were fairly quiet. I loved being able to camp without electric or water. We stayed 3 nights and our 190 watt solar panel kept up nicely....

Tip for Other Campers:
The Mammoth cave is a dry cave. So it wasnt as exciting as some of the others. The History cave tour was more like a 2 hour walk and 525 stairs with some history. There are other shorter tours that might work better. Some very nice paths for hiking or biking so try to not miss those too.
“Nice No Hook-up Small Camper Destination”
Nightly Rate: $25 USD
Most sites arc through trees making them pull thrus - BUT - trees butt up to the arcs really limiting the size of an RV that will pass though. Somewhere I read that the biggest travel trailer size is...

“Great Hiking and make sure to take a tour.”
Nightly Rate: $25 USD
The campground has no hook ups but it is was quite and it seemed like most people only ran their generator long enough to get whatever it was they needed to get done and then shut them off. We were...
