“MOST Interesting Campground Ever!”
Nightly Rate: $10 USD
Magical, hot, freezing, dusty, wild. Staying here is quite the experience. We saw cattle, mules and horses that come over from Mexico (and cowboys riding through the campground trying to move them...

Tip for Other Campers:
There is so much to see and do here. Every day was a different magnificent adventure. Drive up to Chicos Basin for lunch or dinner. Lots of places to hike ranging from short and easy to death defying difficult. Relax in the 100 degree hot springs and cool off with a swim in the Rio Grande. Bird watch, the campground was a hot spot when we were there. Learn...

Specifically, the dry camping side is lovely. The full hookup side is a parking lot. The dry camping site has nicely spaced sites, mostly level. There is either back shade structure or some shade...

Tip for Other Campers:
1. Take the nature trail hike at the back of the campground. 2. Don't expect to buy food in the park. The stores are pretty basic.
3. People recommend a trip to Boquillas. It's a nice place to go for lunch, but not really much else. 4. Drink lots of water. It's the desert. Don't underestimate how much you should carry on hikes even during cool weather.
Tips from campers about Rio Grande Village Campground
- RVerDarlene If you want to hike one of the popular routes, like Santa Elena, get yourself up early and allow for long drive times. We arrived at 9:30 am and only saw a few others on the trail. On the drive in we had the entire Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive almost to ourselves. Gorgeous! After the hike through the canyon about 11:00 am- there were lots more cars in the lot and people on the hike. In Santa Elena Canyon you need to cross the river for the hike. If the water level is too high to cross on foot you can follow the beach down to the right until the water ends, scramble up and down some rocks and meet up with the trail again. It is not very difficult at all but I would suggest you do need to be fairly sure footed and not physically impaired in any way to go this route. My husband is 71 and I'm 64, we are in fairly good shape but nothing to brag about and it was easy for us. Walking sticks helped with the slippery parts. Definitely worth the effort!2 years ago Rio Grande Village Campground

Visit Bouquias, Mexico by rowboat, and dont worry, it is 100% safe.3 weeks ago Rio Grande Village Campground

A great campground in one of the most remote areas in the US. There is a fabulous trail off the campground which takes you up to a lookout view of the Rio Grande. There is a small Mexican town nearby...

Best National Park weve been to. Very enjoyable. Would rate it as a great winter or early spring destination.
