Tips from campers about Fruita Campground
- cawalker We went to Conagree National Park. It was a beautiful day, no bugs, heat or humidity.4 days ago Poinsett State Park
- Kathryn_290 Congaree National Park is an hour away! Food Lion is 25 minutes away in Sumter. Ice cream bars and canned soda at park general store.1 week ago Poinsett State Park
- vneit A little tricky for big rigs. We have a 36 foot class A and I scraped a tree backing into site 7. It happened because I was looking up when the tree problem was closer to the ground. Site 14 where we are doing next is wider and flatter. It was way easier to back in there. Verizon is good for calls and txt but not browsing. T mobile is better here. Keep in mind that both of these tend to disappear as you go down the hill closer to the river/stream.5 months ago Poinsett State Park

The best is the Gifford House next to CG. Opens at 9 am with 408 freshly baked fruit pies. They do sell out! We went twice and froze several. Cinnamon rolls too! Walk to the Cohab Canyon trail and Fremont trail from CG and easy drives to other ones Dog friendly trail from CG to visitors center (1 mi). Explore the old blacksmith shop and one room...

Tip for Other Campers:
If you have 4WD, high clearance vehicle take the Hartnet/Cathedral Valley loop. The scenery is outstanding. Check with the rangers at the Visitor Center for road conditions first. Buy the Cathedral Loop Road Guide to take along. It will make you drive even more interesting. Bring a picnic lunch and stop at the Cathedral Valley Campground for a peaceful (no...
