Tips from campers about Ravensworth, VA

  • RVRuss It's a great park for a evening walk or bike ride or run.
  • Anjrnr Granbury is a great town, visit the old town square
  • Rpjack This park is outside of town somewhat, but only like 5 mins or so and you're near a small grocery, gas stations, some basic restaurants, etc. The park is about 15 mins from downtown Granbury, a very cute historic town with great eating, shopping and they often have events to attend. The town of Granbury is on Highway 377 and there is a lot of traffic, so be prepared for that. That said, there is tons of shopping and facilities in the area (Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Kroger, H.E.B., and a ton of smaller shops). Granbury is about 30 mins to Ft. Worth and there is TONS of shopping and entertainment there! The Granbury lake is very nice and there is some recreation I believe, but we've not taken part yet. There is a lot of places to fish if you're into that, and we've heard there's some descent fish to catch. The weather over the winter is relatively mild, but it did get down into the 20's for a few days and we did get some snow and ice, but again only for a couple days in Feb. This location is good for a winter getaway (we came from Colorado) as long as you have a heated water hose and keep your underbelly (basement) above freezing. It didn't seem to be a problem because the low temps don't hang around long and during the day it warms up. There is a brewery (Revolver) about 5 mins (drive, about 15 min walk) from the campgrounds, but it's only open Saturday afternoon. There is a gas station/convenience store right around the corner (walking distance) if you need any basics.
