“Right above the river. Quiet and peaceful. ”
Nightly Rate: $10 USD
We like the 30 amp sites that are on the lower level right over the river. There's a path that takes you down to the river with a nice beach. We camped at Old American Kampground in a Fifth Wheel.

Grocery very close to the entrance to the park.

Tip for Other Campers:
Go to the gas and grocery store on the Idaho side of the river. In the store; if you like ice cream, ask for the kid cone ($0.25) and you will get a 3 scoops of ice cream cone.

Tip for Other Campers:
Again as others have mentioned, shopping is cheaper in ID. We went the farmers markets in both Newport and in Sandpoint. The one in Sandpoint was much nicer (35 minute drive.) Looking at the park in a satellite view you can see a dock in the river, but it is no longer there. Went to and enjoyed a rodeo last night.

Tip for Other Campers:
We only stayed two days, but the small town of Newport seems to have anything you may need...and we found Cosco jut 35 min away on the edge of Spokane. Westside Pizza was good too and just outside of the park.
