“Super quiet and DARK SKY”
Nightly Rate: $15 USD
Lake Proctor was very, very low because of the drought. Recreational boating was non-existent, which may have been why it was so amazingly QUIET. Lots of full-hookup sites. Fire rings at every site....

Tip for Other Campers:
The hamlets of Comanche and Dublin are close by. Granny Clarks (Dublin) and Harvest (Comanche) are a must for great meals. There are also two very interesting historical museums in Dublin, and several shops in the town square in Comanche. We heard there was a great pie place in Hico (20 minutes away), but we didnt get there this trip. Two wineries to...

Nightly Rate: $30 USD
We enjoyed our stay. All of the sites are large and near the lake. It's a relatively small campground operated by the City of Austin, Texas. There is a good deal of shade. A sandy beach was nearby....

Tip for Other Campers:
Although this is Texas, the terrain near the park is extremely hilly and often quite steep. We encountered one 10% grade on the way in. No staff were apparent at arrival, although a park person did drive through the campground on one day. Reserve in advance but it's self-serve when you arrive. This wasn't a big problem. Swimming was good. There is woodsy...

We were in site C-3 for an overnight. Pull-through with full hookup but minimal shade. The manager was nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. We opted for an extended check-out (5:00!), which was very...

“Great shade, nice marina, restaurant on site.”
Nightly Rate: $13 USD
We stayed in Loop 72-88, which is not near the lake, but the sites are roomy, shaded, and the pads are long. Site 76 was somewhat level. The concrete picnic tables are ancient and need to be replaced...

Tip for Other Campers:
Close to Rogers and Bentonville. Theres a lot to do in both areas, and a lot of options for restaurants. Right outside of the park on Rt 12 there is a great breakfast/lunch spot and a good Mexican restaurant. Rogers has a lot of options options for ethnic foods: Mexican, Thai, Cuban, Mediterranean, Italian, etc. Cheap firewood at Walmart (who knew?).
