Question: Can you actually SEE the river from the riverview sites? None of the photos actually show a view of the river from any site. Thank you.
Answer:
Agree with the other answers. Some sites have a pretty good site of the river off to the right and left, and the views are better the higher the river. The levee blocks the view directly in front of many sites, but you can see barges and tugs moving along. The sites are about 200 yards from a long walking and biking path. You can also sit in the pool and have a decent enough view of the barges going by....

If you like a view of the lake, Lake Waco is a good spot to camp. There are shorter sites that back up to the water, but the larger pull-through sites have great views and are a stone throw from lake...

Tip for Other Campers:
If you like pizza, Slow Rise on the Brazos is a slice house on the Brazos River. We ordered a 20" Waco Works and there were plenty of leftovers. There are multiple seating areas, friendly staff, and cold beer. Parking is a bit tight if you're in a big truck, but there's room.

Nothing inherently wrong with the campground, but there's also nothing distinctive. We pulled in on a Sunday so maybe the tall grass, limbs, and trash sitting outside the sites was due to people...

The park is big rig friendly. All the sites are long and spacious. Access from the road is easy. Wifi was strong enough for us to stream. There is a mile and a 1/2 paved walking trail running between...

Tip for Other Campers:
Read Greg Iles "The Quiet Game" and then go to Biscuits and Blues for the beignet and mushroom crawfish cream sauce. It's way better than you think it will be. The Camp and Magnolia are good places to eat, also, but be aware that parking near them is tight if you are in a truck. Better to park up in town and walk 1/4 mile down the hill. Don't sleep on Vidali....
