Question: We have reservations for June in our travel trailer. Was curious about food lockers and bears. Should we plan on storing all food in locker? What about food in fridge? Cosmetics? At 10 pm dog usually has to do his business. Any special precautions? Silly questions maybe, but appreciate other campers input.
Answer:
We stayed at this park in September, 2024, and had no problem with bears, nor did we have any worries about food in our trailer. I would recommend getting an update from the park just to be sure that nothing has changed. The park is one of several good ones nearby and is in a beautiful location about 10 minutes from downtown. When driving into Rocky Mountain Park, the road down the hill from the RV park leads you right to the junction without having to drive through town....

“Quiet, close to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park”

Clean, quiet campground with excellent shower and restroom facilities. Small pool, nice childrens playground, 3 total tiers for RV sites, and camp store. We camped at Estes Park Campground at Marys...

Tip for Other Campers:
Just a 5 minute drive off the mountain into Estes Park and closer to entrance to the Park itself. Estes Park is a fantastic little town with multiple interesting shops, a beautiful walkway with shops along the river, and of course the Stanley Hotel.

A very nice KOA along the Colorado River. You could get a deluxe site along the river, we paid for one inside the park. Nice showers, pool, water feature for kids and grass area with picnic tables...

Tip for Other Campers:
About a 9 minute drive west to town for facilities in Rifle and 20 minutes to Glenwood Springs. Not much in the tiny town of Silt where the KOA is located (not in Glenwood Springs!), but KOA is beside a large gas station which is a plus and minus. There is a well-reviewed restaurant in Silt that will actually pick you up but we never went there.
