“Clean county park with all the basics”
Nightly Rate: $40 USD
This is a solid county campground with picnic areas, gravel pads, playgrounds, Frisbee golf, and baseball fields. Despite that, it wasnt very busy. It was about 2 miles to the nearest small town. The...

Tip for Other Campers:
Bring electrical and hose extensions. Many sites share a water/electric pillar which can be at the front of the site. Theyve also been having trouble with their reservation system.
“Great stop, take a flashlight”
Nightly Rate: $70 USD
The park was clean, convenient, friendly. This is a fantastic stop outside of Chicago. Its right off 80, so easy on and off the Freeway. It would be a nice campground for more than an overnight. We...

The staff says they know about it but dont know how to change this serious hazard. Two of my party were trapped in the dark at night in a new escape room experience.

“Big Choice in non-Fair times”
Nightly Rate: $30 USD
This is a great park and you can choose your own spot from 2500 that are available. It is clean, convenient, well kept. It is 15 minutes to downtown Des Moines. They have their own police force and I...

Tip for Other Campers:
Navigation: Take 163/ University Avenue to E 30th to Dean Avenue. Go past gates 7, 8, and 9, up the steep hill to the entrance of the campground. This is the ONLY way to get to the campground. All other entrances say, Go to Dean Avenue like youre supposed to know where that is.
