Hi Judy,We stayed at this park in mid-June about 2 years ago. No problems with ants at that time. It's a short bike ride to the trolley station at Santee Town Centre. About 2-3 miles as I recall. The park is not very scenic but clean and conveniently located for access to East S.D. County. Hope this is helpful....

Having stayed at SLRP over the years, I have experienced the "ant problem" every month in every site. Here are a couple of solutions that are not fatal for pets or wildlife. 1) Borax (powder at Target); make a trail around you RV (or picnic table or any other area you want to be ant-free). 2) Terro (liquid at Home Depot); put a drop or two on paper or cardboard and place near ant trails. Note: Terro's primary ingredient is Borax. Of the 2 options I have found the drops of liquid the most effective. By placing them around the campsite (near ant trails), the ant invasions were stopped.Going to Trolley via bike: Try this path of least traffic-Fanita Parkway south to left on Carlton Oaks, right on Willow Pond Rd, right on River Park Dr, right on Cuyamaca St, and left on Town Center Pkwy. This will put you at the transit center and trolley station. Have fun!...

We did not encounter ants. However, we carry a container of Amdro with us for such things. It's a powder you can sprinkle around. Don't leave home without it.I don't know about biking, we didn't bike....

There is always ants in the summer at Santee Lakes. Comet-Ajax sprinkled around your jacks, wheels, hoses, electric cord seems to work. Make sure no branches or bushes are touching your RV any where. Call the office if your over run by the ants. Easy bike ride to trolley station, the trolley is awesome, down town 35 minutes....

Pleas don't use comet and ajax crap... Use instead diatomaceous earth if you have any class at all....
