Don't know only stayed there for a short time. I'm sure it get cold during the winter months...

Average temp Jan/Feb 35-65FNearby Fredericksburg is great. Pacific War Museum is worth a look. Johnson City, home of the LB Johnson ranch is interesting....

You are close to Fredericksburg where there are unique shops and the Admiral Nimitz museum. Bandera,a real cowboy community and San Antonio are a little over an hour drive away.. James Avery factory store is located in Kerrville. Additionally, there are a few wineries nearby. It can get very cold in Winter or not. Some years there is a hard freeze and others not....

We have been in Fredericksburg when it is was busy and bustling and when it was pretty dead (Covid). Unless they are having a special event, I would expect it to be quiet in Jan / Feb except on weekends when more shops are open. We loved (split) the Reuben sandwich at Rathskellar. If you enjoy bicycling and can haul your bikes to Kerrville, the paved river trail is easy parking & riding with scenic views along the river. While we are not wine aficionados, there appeared to be several opportunities in the area. Give me the Kentucky Bourbon Trail !! :-)...
