This area is rich in history and geological formations. A person could completely engulf themselves in two days, but could actually relax and enjoy themselves in 4-5 days....

We felt like 2 days was enough in Badlands, before we moved on to stay closer to Custer State Park for a couple of days....

Two nights is one full day. You can hick in the morning when it is cool and drive around in the after noon. You can drive out the west back entrance towards Wall and see that part of the park. But I would not miss the balistic missile park on the north side of I90. That I think would be another half day. Everybody goes to see the Wall drug store. I think you should see it on the way in or out. And mt Rushmore and wind cave nat park deserve at least a day and I would think you should camp near there vice trying to make it a day trip from the badlands....

I agree with another response-2 days is enough and then move on to Custer State Park. We couldn't get enough buffalo watching!...

I agree with Noah4448, unless you are an avid hiker and want to hike the more challenging trails. We did a ranger guided hike to look at the geology, then two other hikes the same morning. We then drove the entire park, and then took backroads around to Kadoka (highly recommend this, as the countryside is quite pretty). The Minuteman Missile National Monument is a must!...

2 nights did us fine. Drive the loop, turn towards I90 nearly at end, see the missile sites, (check schedule first) then back into park. Do the sunset and night thing, very different at dusk. We didn’t hike, too hot....
