“Close to National Park”
Nightly Rate: $20 USD
The surrounding area is very poor and there are not many other camping options near Canyon de Chelly; so this is the best place to camp. There are no hookups and its tight for a 40 rig but we made it...

Once you arrive walk the camp grounds to find tight turns and your site before you drive thru. Bring food and cook at camp surrounding area is sketchy.
“Quiet campground for dry camping.”
Nightly Rate: $20 USD
We enjoyed our stay here as it was quiet and beautifully sunny. Our only issue is the volume of goat thorns. They are everywhere off the asphalt. Pets cannot walk off the asphalt without getting the...

“We had the campground to ourselves”
Nightly Rate: $20 USD
Since the sites were first-come-first-served when we camped there at the beginning of December, we called in advance and spoke with a ranger. She told us that there would "only" be 24 sites available...

Tip for Other Campers:
DEFINITELY do a drive through the canyon with a Navajo guide if you can. We asked specifically for a woman guide and were VERY pleased with our guide Silvia. She has been doing this for 30 years and she was brilliant! Part cultural anthropologist, part geologist, an amazing storyteller, great-grandmother of six, and a heck of a 4x4 Jeep driver!
“Excellent Access to Canyon de Chelly”
Nightly Rate: $20 USD
We stayed 3 nights at the Cottonwood campground just outside the entrance to Canyon de Chelly. Based on other reviews, we chose a site that was AWAY from the trees - we wanted full exposure for our...

Tip for Other Campers:
1. Be sure to check the "Reserved" clip on your site marker BEFORE pulling in and setting up! 2. Watch out for the many, MANY goathead stickers! 3. When dining at the Thunderbird cafeteria, go with the special - it's usually the best bet. Everything else is... Meh.4. If at all possible, TALK to the rangers & volunteers at the Visitor Center - they have so...

“Beautiful, Peaceful, Easy Access to Canyon”
Nightly Rate: $20 USD
We dry camped at Cottonwood for 3 nights. It was very peaceful. Actually so close to perfect. The goatheads/tackweeds were everywhere. The roads and sites are blacktopped, so that helped, but getting...

Tip for Other Campers:
The campground is next to Thunderbird lodge which is great for a Navajo taco and more. The tours are also onsight, so youre just walking 100 yards to meetup. The staff are all friendly and so helpful. We got in later on a Sunday and I left the tour company a message. They actually called me back that evening to confirm, which was amazing. Note: tours within...
