Super friendly staff and a great location for the Malibu area. The beach can be pretty dramatic and the surfers are fun to watch. The sites are not very deep and are oriented at a 90 degree angle so...

Not too many movie stars live here but many do about ten miles down the road. This campground has many beautiful sycamore trees and a creek. The spots themselves are basic, either with or without...

Tip for Other Campers:

If you are coming from the north, stop on the Pacific Coast Highway south of Oxnard and buy some fresh strawberries. There are almost always a couple of small vendors along the road selling them. They are grown in Oxnard.

Tips from campers about Leo Carrillo State Beach

  • Apryl Skies If you bring your dog there is a dog beach but you'll have to hike a bit north to find it.
  • Chris_729 Stock up on groceries before coming here. There are NO cheap markets in town. The cheapest was a Vons/Pavilions and they are one of SoCal's most expensive. Also top off before driving here as there are no gas stations in town that will accommodate Class A's or trailers. When you come in past the ranger station, you have to turn left t the day use parking or right to the campground. The road straight ahead leads under the highway to the beach but there is only an 8' clearance and NO turn around.
  • Nmayo02 Paradise Cove is spendy but a fun restaurant to visit. The greater Malibu area has a lot to offer. And of course there are many beaches to hang out on.

The sites were pretty close together, buy so many trees and the ocean just a shortnealk away. Perfect! We camped at Leo Carrillo State Beach in a Motorhome.
