“Old,tired, and more than a bit run down ”

This campground is not a focus of the Chevron business. Check in was a breeze. Counter person was friendly and helpful. I had to acknowledge I had read the park rules with my signature. I was...

“Don't stop here!!”

We should have known when we saw the first site that was occupied by a very decrepit old travel trailer with a frig in the yard. We went to the far end away from this and pulled in, we tried to hook...

Tips from campers about McCammon RV Park
- Bob & Callie Our stay in early June was cool, mid 50's during the day, overcast and a bit damp. Trinidad Bay Eatery and Gallery had great food. Simple homey place. Ask for one of Ashley's tables and tell her Bob & Callie from Ventura sent you, she was a fabulous waitress!2 years ago Emerald Forest Cabins & RV
- MaciesMom Grocery store about a mile up the road with lots of choices and decent prices.3 years ago Emerald Forest Cabins & RV
- Texas Jeff The town of Trinidad is a beautiful little sea-side village. Shops, restaurants, grocery, infrastructure. Hiking trails! It has just about everything you'd need. I have 2 suggestions: If you have the time and money to spare, treat yourself to a very nice dinner at Larrupin Cafe located just 5 minutes drive up the street from the RV park. We had steak and wine in an outside dining area near a heat lamp. This isn't an inexpensive restaurant but the prices aren't "too bad" for the food, drink and service you will receive. Go through the little town to the historic lighthouse. I believe the lighthouse is only open on the first Saturday of every month so we didn't get a chance to visit it. But the hiking trails made for a day of great exercise.4 years ago Emerald Forest Cabins & RV

Ended up staying 4 nights. Site 23 was great.. Small grassy area with field for my pup. A few long term guests here but it was very quiet. Heard the train a couple of times a day but in the distance....

“Looks like a homeless camp when you pull in. ”
Nightly Rate: $46 USD
Fulltime RV people living there are a mess. Some with no doors trash all over. Keep going you can make it to a safer park. Campground people need to crack the whip and get them to clean up or move...

Go up to the town of Lava Hot Springs 12 miles away. Its an awesome little town and hot springs.

Park was quite nice considering it sits behind a Chevron gas station/convenience store (which is also where you check in at). Sites are all pull through and level. Spacious sites with trees for some...

Tip for Other Campers:
The small town of Lava Hot Springs is about 15 min drive and worth the trip. Lots of places to eat and shop. There are several places to pay to get into the hot springs right in town or rent an inner tube and go down the river that goes through town. There are also several RV parks near by so if you want to stay more than one night I would check these out....
