  TD 1981-Navy Vets Drove to Gila Cliff Dwellings-beautiful trail up to the dwellings, impressive. The drive up there from Silver City on Hwy 15 is 44 miles, very narrow, many sharp curves, takes one and one half to two hrs to drive! But beautiful scenery!

  Greg 75 While there, we went into Silver City and ate at The Jalisco Cafe, which was fantastic! (Beware the red sauce is HOT, and we are from Texas.) We went about 5:30 pm and there was already a waiting list, so you know it's good. We also visited Gila Cliff Dwelling National Monument, which is free, and the park service provides kennels where you can leave your dog while hiking to the cliff dwellings! Dogs are allowed on all trails at Gila with the exception of the cliff dwelling trail. Additionally, you actually go into the dwellings. The approximately one mile hike is very pretty with some elevation change, and the dwellings are very cool. The drive along Hwy 15 is beautiful, but SLOW because of all the twists and curves. Plan on an hour and a half at minimum to get there. I definitely wouldn't pull a trailer up there using that route.

  FifthWheel4Two A lot of the local shops, galleries and vintage stores were not open on Wednesday. Could have been because it was off-season.
