“RV sites are in a barren lot”
Nightly Rate: $45 USD
This park has great potential if they would clean up the area where the sites are located and add some vegetation. The entire RV area is in a timbered area with a great deal of the trees cut simply...

Very well kept campground. Visitor center/check in building appears to be new as does the shower house. Possibly rebuilt after hurricane damage in 2024? There is a lot of devastation to landscape with...

Tip for Other Campers:
We drove over to Outer Banks area (2 hrs away). There is also a nice lake at campground-would have loved to take our kayaks out but weather didnt cooperate.
Tips from campers about Goose Creek State Park
- JRLooney Go visit Bath, NC - a short drive down the road. It is North Carolina's first town/port and many old buildings still stand. Further down the road you can take the ferry across the Pamlico to Aurora, NC. Visit the fossil museum there and dig in the pits across the street where you can easily find shark's teeth and fossils all day long. Bring plenty of bug spray and/or a screen tent in the summer months.4 years ago Goose Creek State Park
- KathyMcP There are about 8 miles of nice trails in the state park. The maps and trail signs are Incomplete! The trails are not completely marked! Make sure you know how to get back to your vehicle. We are experienced hikers and had to call rescue Ranger Melanie to come find us when we were backtracking for a long time, searching our trail, and it got too dark to see. She was terrific and said this was the most confusing part of their trail system and they have to rescue people often. Would be a great scout project to correctly mark and put up adequate trail signs. But all trails are easy and have many rewarding aspects/ river views, etc. We enjoyed historic Bath-- very small National Historic District old town. Also Washington's waterfront area is well done along the historic Pamlico River front. The North Carolina estuarium was worth the $5 admission and time spent, teaches about the natural aspects of NC estuary area. We had good She- crab soup, fried oysters, and clams at Washington Crab. Great bakery in Washington, Rachel K's.4 years ago Goose Creek State Park
- Where_Next Bath historical site is 8 miles away and the first incorporated town in NC. Nice museum /visitor center and walking tour of the town and a few restored buildings. Washington ( know locally as Little Washington ) is west of the campground about 12 miles with Walmart, restaurants and other small city amenities. The NC Estuarium is located on the bank of the Pamlico River and a well worthwhile visit for $ 5 per person. If looking for a lunch option, we can recommend "Down on Main" that is a few blocks from the Estuarium.4 years ago Goose Creek State Park

Nice park. Have been doing controlled burning so it looks a little dead. The tall grass grows and covers sites. Not much trees or shade. Nice trails to walk. We camped at Goose Creek State Park in a...

“It will be nicer when they clean up from the burn/deforestation!”
Nightly Rate: $28 USD
They apparently recently burned the underbrush and cut down many trees in the campground. All that debris is everywhere. Not much shade to be had.We were told that the reason is to bring back the...
