Tips from campers about Upper Sackville, NS
- DandA83 Everything I will mention, you will already have heard about. But, just in case, the waterfront, Peggy's Cove, The Halifax Citadel (make sure and be there for the Noon Gun firing. We went downtown to The Carleton and saw Wayne Nicholson and the Ginhouse Boys. Very good blues.6 months ago Halifax West KOA
- RVL727525 The guys in the group went to the Steele wheel auto museum, it was small but they really enjoyed it. Went to the Halifax Harbor ( lots of free parking on the weekend). There was a cruise ship in port: NCL Norwegian Sun. We went to the farmers market, expecting a lot of fresh produce, but didnt find much. There were a lot of other vendors there. We went to the Maritime Museum and learned about the 1918 explosion and the titanic burial site. We walked up to the Clocktower and the citadel was closing soon so they let us in for free, they have an army museum there and the staff were very nice. We drove, about 5 miles to the Fairview cemetery to see the graves of the Titanic victims. The next day we drove to Peggys Cove. What a quaint little town. Walked around the rocks at the lighthouse. Ate lunch in West Dover. They had a food truck with decent food, mostly fried. Sat outside at picnic tables. The next day we drove to Dartmouth. We walked the trails at the Shubenacadie Canal and saw a sign for free tours at the Flume house at 1p a on Tuesday. It is on the marine railway which used to be a series of locks. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Next we drove a few bocks to the Evergreen house. Another free attraction, local history and well preserved house from the 1800s. Uniacke Estate Museum park is about 5 miles from camp, has nice walking paths around the lake and a historical house that was closed on Monday and Tuesday6 months ago Halifax West KOA
- MysteryPoodle If you go to Peggy's Cove, maybe try to go early. It was just a mob scene when we were there. The Halifax docks were interesting.8 months ago Halifax West KOA
