Tips from campers about Constitution Park

  • Fence Ponchatoula and Hammond are nice, smaller cities and have great restaurants. The list provided by Sun Outdoor staff when you check in was excellent.
  • Kyle Ault Right off the highway easy in and out
  • Rob & Michele If you have bikes go ride the Tammancy Trail (rail trail that starts in Covington and goes to Slidell). We parked at the Abita Springs Trailhead Museum and walked around the quaint town of Abita Springs while eating lunch at the Abita Springs Brew (good food and service). They also have an Abita Springs Cafe that is good for breakfast and lunch. We rode our bikes 17 miles total from Abita Springs to Mandeville. Mandeville has an icecream shop and farmers market on Saturday's with music. It also has a sports store that carries running tennis shoes and cleats. The Lake Ponchtrain is in Mandeville, but we did not ride our bikes to it as we were exhausted from riding that far. You could also park at Fountainblue State Park and ride the trail from there (they said this section is pretty). We will come back for sure and ride some more of this trail. There were parks and splash pads along the trail for kids.
