Tips from campers about Wilburton, OK
- Quentin_857 Town was within 6 mi good food good grocery store get most of what you needed4 months ago Robbers Cave State Park
- Jaycovious Had a wonderful time. Be sure to do the Talimena Drive to view the fall foliage. Lots of hiking trails in the area. Could easily spend a week at Robbers Cave and see a lot of beautiful scenery.1 year ago Robbers Cave State Park
- hikingyogi There is so much to do in this park: tons of hiking, miniature golf, paddle boats, canoes, a restaurant, a nature center/gift shop, fishing, an equestrian campground, a pool, an amphitheater, and a swim beach. In addition, there are playgrounds throughout the park, as well as picnic areas if you're not camping. Wilburton is about 5 miles from the park and has most of what you would need. There is a good grocery store (Roy's Cardinal Store), a True Value, a Tractor Supply Store, multiple convenience stores and multiple fast food restaurants. The people are extremely friendly and helpful. If you like to hike, there are a lot of great trails including Robbers Cave Trail (where notorious outlaws like Jesse James hid out), Rough Canyon Trail, Coon Ridge Trail and Belle Starr Trail Loop. If you stay in Whispering Pines or Old Circle campgrounds, there are trailheads to multiple trails within walking distance. One huge draw for this park is the Fall foliage. Unfortunately, we went about 3 weeks too early, so the colors were just beginning to change. During the third weekend of October, they hold a Fall Fest event, which was attended by approximately 60,000 people in 2022. This festival has a car show with over 600 entries, multiple bands, food trucks, and carnival rides. There is just a ton to do at Robbers Cave and if you want to do nothing, you can do that too.1 year ago Robbers Cave State Park
