Tips from campers about Saint Matthews, SC
- Hitting the road Cougar Spent a day at carlsbad cavens, hiked, laundry and groceries were close by. The lodge was very nice. They served food overnight we were there. The members were pleasant and friendly.2 months ago Carlsbad Elks Lodge #1558
- ToniRI Ten miles or so from Carlsbad Caverns. You have to pay to make a timeslot reservation $1 per person, and then pay the entry fee when you arrive. With the America the Beautiful Senior Pass entry fee was free. Taking the hike down the natural descent to the cavern and then the elevator back up after you have walked around the Big Room is a good way to do it.2 years ago Carlsbad Elks Lodge #1558
- wingop Carlsbad caverns about 20 miles away but you need to be fit to walk the entire caves - do not arrive mid-afternoon as the wait line to get the escalator back to the surface is 2 hours!!7 years ago Carlsbad Elks Lodge #1558
