Aiken is a nice small town with a great area called the Alley that has restaurants, pubs and shops to see.
Tips from campers about Aiken State Park
- Mtmoi Houmas House across the river presented the fancy lifestyle of the ante bellum rich and famous (best seen with a mint julep from the Turtle House in hand). Sophisticated cooking at DJ's in Vacherie or you can order a pizza there, also.10 years ago St. James RV Park

The nearest town of any size is Aiken which is about twenty minutes away. Aiken has a variety of dining options as well as grocery and hardware stores. Be careful when selecting a campsite. Some of them are challenging to back into with larger rigs due to the proximity of some of the pine trees along the loop road. There are some excellent videos on YouTube...
