We stayed down the road at Smoky Mountain Hidden Stills Campground. Loved it. A little more money but worth it 100% We visited Cosby Run Campground, no overnight stay.
Tip for Other Campers:
Not far from white water rafting and Gatlinburg.
Nightly Rate: $30 USD
It's a you get what you pay for kind of location. They are under new ownership but far from being decent. 99% of sites are folks who live there in very run down rigs and don't keep their area clean....

Tips from campers about Cosby Run Campground
- MEdwardR Sonny's Diner in Hatteras was friendly and fast. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is close and worth the visit.
- n2916s If you are going to fish, pick up a North Carolina license at any bait shop. ORV permits for the beach and campsite reservations are at Recreation.Gov.
- GoingNoWhereFast 4x4 on the beach is $50 for a 10day pass. No one day pass. The beach can be crowded if the fish are biting. Much Nice than the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Campground

Tip for Other Campers:
Lot of permanent campers most of which did not take care of their sites. Campground is about 25 miles from tourist attractions. Although much more expenisve, there are several other RV parks in the area with amenities and sites in better condition. You get what you pay for.
I've been coming here every October since 1998 when it was under the old name Fox Den - this place is & has always been GREAT! Nothing fancy - no arcade for the kiddies or fancy amenities, but the...

Tip for Other Campers:
Don't miss Carvers Apple Orchard & Restaurant! It's a short drive north & on your way to the Walmart in Newport. Best food! Also a candy shop, produce market, and best place for all things involving APPLES!!

Previous posts giving this place a 9 must have been made by the owner’s mother and grandmother. It’s nowhere close to being a 9. Gravel interior roads and grassy sites. Hookups are adequate. I...
