Tips from campers about New Market, TN
- RV-ing Mom DeSoto Falls is just minutes away and is a nice walk from the parking area to the overlook of the falls; a handicap accessible walk-way is provided. The Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail is nearby which is also handicap accessible and a lovely walk through the woods here in Northern Alabama. The Southern Rock group Alabama is from here, and the town has a museum dedicated to the history of the band (did not go). We are still not eating out, but the clerk at the check-in station told someone else about Roadside BBQ on the main street in Fort Payne that has good food and options other than BBQ as well as an outside seating area. The whole State Park area is part of a birding trail. We visited during the week, and it was quiet and peaceful. Plenty of trees provides lots of privacy at each site, especially the back-in sites. Not your normal State Park.4 years ago Desoto State Park Campground
- Dee0987 Cafe 136 near Cloudland Canyon is a great place to eat. If you use GPS be sure to mark your destination as Desoto State Park Improved Campground or you will go on a wild ride!4 years ago Desoto State Park Campground
- Dwight & Lisa Hiking is great. We always make at least 1 visit to Big Time Cafe in Dogtown for their burgers. Also Mentone Market is great for items needed and they have a delicious 12 pizza for $10. Little River Canyon and Falls were beautiful. DeSoto Falls was really nice as well. Lots to do in that area if nothing but ride and take in the beautiful mountainous area.3 years ago Desoto State Park Campground
