Tips from campers about Albany Motor Inn & RV Campground
- Hitch2go Take the short drive out of the park to the left and go to the lookout at the end of the road as well as the vistas along the way. There are awesome views of the coastline as well as sea lions, harbor seals and we even saw whales that inhabit the area. Oregon National Dunes is just north of Coos Bay. - OHCal1988 The Light display at Shore Acres was wonderful and a must-see, however, you have to reserve in advance online, but as a Park guest, you don't pay the $5.00 parking fee. Chuck's Seafood Market was awesome. We purchased fresh caught crabs and a pound of steamer clams and really feasted.... The lunch we had at Tai Garden was very affordable and generous! (we actually go two meals out it, so even with pot-stickers, we paid about less than $20 per meal for the two of us.) The Oregon University Marine Research Center was also a bargain and fun - $4 each (senior rate). Bastendorff County Park / Campground has a $10.00 dump-station and ocean view sites. Its close by and its on the same road you take to get to a much larger beach than the one at Sunset Bay. Nice little, one night stay, park. Quiet area and a great value with FHU (50 amp). The only negative I see is the sticker burrs in the grass, not bad now but in another month we probably would not...

Rather than a campground this is a line of about 10 sites behind the motel. They are perfectly adequate with 50A/30A FHU. They appear to be pull through although in reality only about 3 or 4 of them...

Tip for Other Campers:
Downtown Albany is a lovely place, not many shops but what are there are nice. The soda fountain is original and they even serve soda in the old manner with syrup and soda. The Old Jail Art Museum is a must see (and free).
