- We Roamed and Rambled Birding is the top attraction here, and if youre a birder you probably already know of all the sites, some within walking distance of the RV park. For restaurants, needs to drive 20+ minutes to either Winnie or Crystal Beach. Only grocery store, Market Basket, is also in Winnie, as well as slightly more economical re-fueling stations. But during spring migration, it is one of the best places to watch birds in the country, and this park is ideally placed - you can walk to most of the birding spots. High Island is all about birds from March to May. This is the closest camping to the sanctuaries. Birders compared notes every evening. Shops: High Island has a convenience store with ok selection.
