“Wonderful park, great shade, walking trails, well maintained”
Nightly Rate: $63 USD
This review is for a 3-week stay; the rate is a weekly rate. What a wonderful gem of a park out on the east side of Camp Verde! The staff is very friendly, the place is nicely landscaped and...

Tip for Other Campers:
Several great birding places in the surrounding area within an hours drive. Four National Monument historic sites as well- dont miss the little-advertised Crane Petroglyphs site up near Montezumas Well, and the great and informative Docent-led talk there. Bashas grocery store in town is about 10-15 minutes away. Even cooler weather further east on Rt. 260...

Nightly Rate: $40 USD
Smallish park with 28 sites (not 18 as listed on the review website) split between two sections. We were in the older, original section. Fairly easy access from main highways, but the last half-mile...

Tip for Other Campers:
Historic downtown of Silver City is nice place to stroll and explore. Take the 2-hour drive up NM-15 Trail of Mountain Spirits Scenic Byway to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument- one of most scenic of the National Scenic Byways weve ever driven, and weve seen many. The local Dragonfly Petroglyph trail is over-rated in our opinion but is an easy local...

Nightly Rate: $38 USD
Wonderful little oasis of a park in the middle of almost-nowhere. Extremely easy access from highway, very wide interior dirt roads, super-long, level sites with very generous spacing. A handful of...

Tip for Other Campers:
The town of Rodeo a few miles south is dying and has nothing to offer, and the tiny town of Portal, AZ nearby has minimal services, so do your grocery shopping before coming. The Sky Islands Grill and Grocery on road to Portal will do for all your basic grocery needs, and has a nice little restaurant as well, decent pizza. Nearest diesel fuel is in Animas...

“Tiny, good location, very nice owners”
Nightly Rate: $25 USD
This was our second stay at this tiny, bare bones Mom and Pop run park, the best one youll find close to Bosque del Apache NWR. Extremely economical, they should probably charge more. There is easy...

Tip for Other Campers:
The Owl Bar restaurant in San Antonio is over-advertised and over-rated, and we had an awful experience there, from wait staff to food. Skip it, we heard the Buckhorn is better. Bosque del Apache NWR is the reason to come here for the birding. Fuel and all shopping in Socorro, 8 miles north.

“Minimally staffed, Sites Not Level, Economical”
Nightly Rate: $17 USD
There are several named campgrounds within Elephant Butte State Park, Quail Run is the one with water and electric (50 and 30 amp) hook-ups. Fairly straightforward access from the main roads but...
