To our surprise and pleasure we found a civic theater in Hatrwells historic district! The city of New Bern has a civic theater performing arts center (newberncivictheater.org); we saw two plays over two seperate visits. We had a blast each time. We highly recommend seeking out and supporting civic theaters wherever you stay.
