McGreggor, Iowa is fairly close and worth the trip despite the terrible road construction making it difficult to navigate in recent years (ask the camp staff for advice on updated routes but hopefully the mess will finally be completed in 2024). The nearby town of Broadhead has a nice downtown with ample parking, cute shops, and several bars/restaurants serving food. Nothing fancy, but affordable, friendly, and fun.
