Thornton Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park is 20 minutes away. Fantastic hikes up there. Downtown Luray is cute. Luray Caverns is a magnificent natural landmark that has been bastardized and commercialized but worth seeing and don't miss the car museum next door (included in the ticket) especially if you love history and things vintage.

Read the directions to the campground on the CG website. Coming on route 6, don't turn into town. Take route 6 all the way to the very end, make a left on Barnstable EXT Road, then take the 4th left and drive straight into the CG. Roads are narrow but just drive slowly and carefully.
