Yes, it's possible. Just be careful choosing your site, and be sure and follow the directions carefully about coming into the park. I believe this is the park I called ahead and verified directions with park staff....

We did just fine in our 40 footer. You do want to make sure that you find a level site though! Read as many reviews as you can on individual sites, look at all the photos, very carefully, and go from there. Some of the sites are extremely unlevel....

Take Hwy 35 through Fort Payne. At the top of the climb you will turn left onto Desoto Pkwy. Well marked with a sign for Desoto Park. That road takes you into the park and to the camp store. Turn left at the camp store and there will be checkin parking there. The only scary part is when you start down the hill to the camp store it is a down hill right curve with a BIG rock sticking out almost in your lane. The first time there I was wondering if I was going somewhere that I couldn’t get out, but now you know you are on the right track when you see it....

We are 48 feet in length with tow vehicle and travel trailer. We followed the State Park's recommendation that they had posted to their website in 2023 and we had no problems at all.Follow the state park directions, not GPS. *If coming from I-59, we advise campers/larger vehicles to use Exits 218 or 222 and utilize AL Hwy 35.From the SP WebsiteTraveling from Chattanooga. Take I-24 West towards Nashville/Birmingham. Take exit #167 to I-59 South towards Birmingham. After 40 miles, take exit #222 (Fort Payne/US Hwy 11). At the top of the ramp, turn left onto US Hwy 11 South towards Fort Payne. After 3 miles, turn left onto AL Hwy 35 (5th Street NE)Follow AL Hwy 35 up Lookout Mountain, at the top of the mountain at the caution light, turn left onto County Road 89 (DeSoto Parkway NE). You will reach DeSoto State Park after 5 12 miles.Larger vehicles need to avoid Tutweiler Gap (off of Hwy 117), Wades Gap (Co. Rd. 604), Beasons Gap (off of Co. Rd. 89). Trailers or Rvs also need to avoid Co...

Take Hwy 35 - it is 2 miles up hill to the park access road, then 6 miles fairly level to the park. No real issues for our 33" class A with a toad. This is not "The" Lookout Mountain, just part of the mountain ridge....

I don't know about it being on top of the Mountain, but we took our 40' Super C there with no problem. We enjoyed it so much that we have another trip planned this year and booked a buddy site with friends pulling a 43' 5er. Make sure to follow their DIRECTIONS....
