I would recommend looking at Jekyll Island regulations and guidelines. Season restrictions are probably based on the time of year....

We took our dog on the beaches, no issues....

Need to check the regulations. Some beaches are open to leashed dogs, some are not...

Our dogs love the beach there. Leashed, though on some areas of Driftwood beach, with a well behaved dog, unleashed isn’t an issue....

Yes, they are allowed on driftwood beach, we kept ours on leash but that is just our preference, I can't recall if there were signs requiring them to stay leashed. They got to see horses for the first time which totally flummoxed them LOL....
