Tips from campers about Palmdale, FL
- garymenne Access to a 1+ mile walking trail is easily accessible from the parkthe boardwalk leads to the river, a marked trail from there leads back to camp. Dog walkers please keep in mind that the boardwalk is a bit narrow, so passing other dogs could present a problem. Also, deer are present along the trail. BEWARE: if youre walking the grassy paths, it is wise to wear long pants and avoid chiggers. Therefore, we didnt get to do much exploration. We did visit the airport in LaBelle where they have a nice little bakery with cafe. Their porch seating is dog friendly. Another restaurant with local atmosphere along a canal is Ortona Tavern, again porch seating is dog friendly. The river runs low this time of year, although navigable by kayak we opted not to kayak. We had kayaked on another trip when the water level was higher, spotting alligators along the riverbanks. We also rode our bicycles on Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail be prepared for wind.2 months ago Fisheating Creek Campground
- Philly55 During November through March they have a food truck with a lot of options to choose from. Plenty of hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, and just enjoying the outdoors.4 months ago Fisheating Creek Campground
- Steve and Ann Adventures We were there during Halloween celebrations so there were a lot of kids running around. Great for families but not so great if you wanted quietness or privacy. The campground had a lot of fun activities going on for Halloween!5 months ago Fish Eating Creek Outpost
