Tips from campers about San Antonio, NM
- njtb Follow their directions so you don't end up on 15 miles of backroads(this didn't happen to us). Must see Mississippi Armed Forces Museum located in Camp Shelby. You provide ID and get your picture taken in the building to the right of the gate, then you drive through the gate to the museum. Artifacts from 1812 through WWI, WWII, the Vietnam War, the Korean War, the Gulf War, up to the current war on terrorism, including a wall dedicated to the 911 tragedy. They had a huge piece of shrapnel from an IED. We spent an hour and a half OUTSIDE before we even got into the building, just looking at all the tanks, helicopters, and other wartime vehicles, including captured Russian-made tanks provided to our enemies in the Middle East complete with holes in the exterior from armor-piercing weaponry. A fascinating afternoon. I reach my museum saturation point after about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. That didn't happen here. Just as I was getting to that point, I came upon the Vietnam exhibit. And then the Gulf War. And the 911 exhibit. I thought this museum was just enough to enjoyed without being overwhelmed.2 years ago Hattiesburg / Okatoma River KOA
- Bkrhoda This campground is a ways in off I-59 & US-49 but well worth the trip.1 week ago Hattiesburg / Okatoma River KOA
- ShaneLinda If you watch the HGTV Hometown show, Laurel (35 min drive) is worth a day trip to see the historic homes and the stores. We lucked out and they were filming in the Scotsman store/workshop for the 2026 season so we saw them (Ben and crew) 'live'. A nice bonus!2 weeks ago Hattiesburg / Okatoma River KOA
