We had an easy time driving our 45ft bus conversion to the campground. Easy in and out. Stayed in spot 18E; enjoyed mostly shady conditions. Power hookups worked great, short walk to the showers &...

Tip for Other Campers:
Good hiking near the campground. Mickelson bike trail access in Custer. Alpine inn in Hill city is a very good German restaurant. Hells canyon west of Custer is a great hike.
Tips from campers about Custer State Park - Legion Lake Campground
- Tucker12 Mt Rushmore. Felt Crazy horse was expensive for what we saw - $30 and they really have made no progress on the monument since late 80's. Presidential was museum and mini golf are free admission with your park receipt - worth the time to go. Custer State Park. Ate at Peggy's home diner - nice. Went to Custer dog park twice - nice site. Downtown Custer was good - Keystone was very commercial - felt like an amusement park.

Tip for Other Campers:
We visited Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Deadwood, and Sturgis. Mount Rushmore - plan to go later in the day so you can see it during the daylight and during the evening lighting ceremony which was very moving and solemn. Crazy Horse - $15.00 admin per person, but worth every penny. The story, the history, the dance performance by the native Lakota...

Very clean, sites were level and paved. Some shade. We had a spectacular view of Legion Lake. Would absolutely stay here again! We camped at Custer State Park - Legion Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Tip for Other Campers:
There is a good little restaurant across the street at the lodge that we had dinner at one nite. We took a nice 1 mile high around Legion Lake which is beautiful. Very pretty part of the park.
