Tips from campers about Rapid City, SD
- StephMcD Use exit #52 when pulling camper in/out. Exit #55 road is broken and winding, ok with just a vehicle. Propane CoOp in Rapid2 weeks ago Black Hawk Creek RV Park & Cabins
- Miles of moments Best Advice we received was to go to the evening show at Mount Rushmore it is Goose Bump Patriotic. Get there early enough to walk around during the day, then stay for the night show. 3 great drives we enjoyed in Custer State Park area were Needles Highway , Iron Mountain Road , and the Wild Life Loop . Definitely do not attempt Needles Highway or Iron Mountain Road in a larger RV as there are one way tunnels and switchbacks between the two. In our Toad we had a blast, but did see a Class C have to turn around and we were glad we weren't that person. Favorite Restaurant was in Hill City at the Alpine Inn German Restaurant , we went for dinner only 3 things on the menu and only one salad choice, but for $19.95 it was the best steak dinner we had on our trip , and the dessert menu was incredible. If you go, they do not take reservations and they open at 5:00 P.M and we got there at 5 and still had to wait 90 minutes ,but it was fun to walk around the town while we waited. The bar opens at 4 and you can get your name on the waitlist starting at 4!5 months ago Rapid City / Black Hills KOA Holiday
- LcG53 This campground is well situated, close to the city and all amenities the city provided, about 1/2 hour drive to Mt.Rushmore. Don't miss visiting Custer State Park and the Needles Highway about 45 minutes away.5 months ago Black Hills RV Park
