Tips from campers about Canyon, TX
- rprochnow We enjoyed hiking the Lighthouse, CCC and Kiowa trails. If you are in a group, it's nice to have someone park at the end of the CCC and or Kiowa trail and shuttle people back. We did horseback riding with Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West. One of the rides I've done. In Amarillo we played two escape rooms and mini golf at Escape the Trap House. Had a great meal at the Big Texan.2 days ago Palo Duro Canyon State Park
- Kalex4 Expect a wait at the park entrance, often around 30 minutes. The Lighthouse Trail is the most popular and scenic hike in Palo Duro, so start earlyno later than 8 AMto avoid the crowds and the heat, as most of the trail is exposed to the sun. The hike took us about four hours round trip. Wear pants, as the final stretch requires scrambling up steep rocks and sliding down on the way back. Bring at least three bottles of water per person and some snacks. For dining, we enjoyed Sad Monkey and Honey Buzzboth were excellent and dog-friendly!1 week ago Palo Duro Canyon State Park
- rvlife_terryb Stop at the Sad Monkey Mercantile and get a a locally brewed beer or other beverages. Interesting place with souvenirs and some camping supplies.1 week ago Palo Duro Canyon State Park
