Tip for Other Campers:
We enjoyed hiking the Lighthouse, CCC and Kiowa trails. If you are in a group, it's nice to have someone park at the end of the CCC and or Kiowa trail and shuttle people back. Tip for Other Campers:
Expect a wait at the park entrance, often around 30 minutes. The Lighthouse Trail is the most popular and scenic hike in Palo Duro, so start earlyno later than 8 AMto avoid the crowds and the heat, as most of the trail is exposed to the sun. Nice campground and facilities. We stayed in Hackberry loop this time. We camped at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in a Truck Camper.
Tip for Other Campers:
Stop at the Sad Monkey Mercantile and get a a locally brewed beer or other beverages. Interesting place with souvenirs and some camping supplies.
