Question: I see that you have to mail in your request for a reservation with a deposit. How well do they honor your reservation request for the week you want and the site you would like.... or not like??
Answer:
I have never not gotten the time I wanted, but they do not guarantee sites. You get what they give you....
My wife, son and I stayed Father's Day weekend. What a nice park. We stayed on S1, which is very shaded. We stayed in the newer loop with paved pads, and there is an older loop with gravel pads....

Tip for Other Campers:
Take the ferry over to Jamestown and Williamsburg. Lots to see. We ate at Anna's Pizza in Surry. It was pretty good. Surry is only a 10 minute drive, and there is a Dollar General there. More serious shopping requires a trip to Smithfield, or do your shopping while in Williamsburg.
We stayed on site 13, a pull-through at the back of the campground. The campground was pretty hilly, but we had no trouble navigating it with our 26' trailer, nor in setting up on site. We found the...

Tip for Other Campers:
There is a small cafe just outside the park that is open 9-6 Thursday-Sunday. We only got ice cream, though. They have ice cream, hotdogs, hamburgers, fish, etc. South Boston is 30 minutes away, and there is some shopping and restaurants there.
