The Fort Davis National Historical Site is well worth seeing. It's a lot of walking, but we went back a second day. There are very few places to eat in Ft Davis. Poco Mexico was very good. Open 11 - 2 and only cash or checks. There is a Lowes Market and a Family Dollar for your everyday needs. One fuel station in town. The McDonald Observatory is a must-do....

It's an easy trip to Fredericksburg and Luckenbach from Blanco. Blanco has a great BBQ (Old 300) and a farmers market on the square on Saturdays....

Calallen is just 20 minutes away if you need a Walmart and Mathis has some good restaurants and HEB to shop at. We ate at Smolik's BBQ twice it was so good. Lake Corpus Christ is just a couple of miles to the state park....
