Tips from campers about Hayward, MN
- RVL499996 Coburn Park - Pack a picnic and enjoy Lake George, spend the day at the beach! Old Mill Pub for lunch, sit and enjoy on the patio
- Dalene_984 Vittles in Pittsfield, ME is excellent and cost friendly, along with Outland Farm Brewery in Pittsfield. Outland Farm does not have a full menu, but what they have available to eat is very good along with great beer. Try the twisted pretzel with beer cheese! Bigelow Brewing Company in Skowhegan, ME had good beer, pizza, and a live band the night we were there that was excellent. Gifford's Famous Ice Cream in Skowhegan, plus there are locations in other towns.(I somehow managed to find them everywhere!) Hero's pizza in Skowhegan was excellent. We had the Greek pizza! Highly recommend! We wanted to try their entire menu, but when we returned, we ordered the Greek Pizza again because it was so good! Old Mill Pub, also in Skowhegan was good but a little pricey. Sawyer's Dairy Bar in Palmyra has good food and ice cream. Fort Knox (didn't know there was another Fort Knox) and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory was very interesting and the town across the river, Bucksport. Enjoyed the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Locally see the Tallest Wooden Indian, Lake George, & Moxie Falls. We also visited Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Boothbay Harbor, Portland, etc. This is just a great location to see many areas of Maine. As mentioned above, a short drive to visit the beautiful Maine coast. Cap'n Fish's Cruises out of Boothbay Harbor were excellent. If in Boothbay, stop at The Red Cup Cafe for a bite to eat and great coffee.
- Matt7571 The mining setup for gems was pretty cool. Bags were not too expensive and had lots of gems in them. Kids really enjoyed this activity.
