“Boondocking at its finest!”
Nightly Rate: $0 USD
I was very worried coming here, concerned that we wouldn't find a spot, and that we couldn't get pass the wash. We have a 33' motorhome with a car we tow behind. As soon as we turned off the main road...

Tip for Other Campers:
We tried to drive to the top of Mt Taylor, (about a half hour drive to the base) but we made it to about 9500 feet before the accumulated snow stopped us. We hiked El Calderon, which was a very pretty hike. Lots of pine trees - I wouldn't say the cone is spectacular, but a pretty 3 mile hike. Not too far from the campground is the Sandstone Bluff, which was...

Nightly Rate: $16 USD
We were just about the only campers there - perfect for us. Our site overlooked the lake. We had been concerned because on other websites they mentioned that the campsite water was non-potable, but...

Tip for Other Campers:
It's a bit of a haul back into town, but we headed into Tucumcari and had a great lunch at Las Chaparritas. We also took the drive up to Las Vegas (NM) and visited the City of Las Vegas Museum and Rough Rider Collection. A cute little free museum (please donate) where you can learn the town history.
“One of the most beautiful park in the SW that I've seen”
Nightly Rate: $40 USD
This was such a gorgeous state park! Plenty of hiking trails. Fellow campers were quiet at night. The campsite was spacious with a great view, but I think any of the campsites would be good. We...

Tip for Other Campers:
No cell service in the canyon, but you can drive back up near check-in and you might get lucky. There is a very fine dust on the ground, so know it's gonna end up on your dog and in your camper.
There is a camp store that serves food and ice-cream. Husband thought the burger was OK.
“Beautiful and quiet”
Nightly Rate: $28 USD
Such a quiet park, although I suppose it helps that no one is here! Our campsite is just terrific. Pulling forward into our site - Cedar Point 2 - rather than backing in, has given us a lovely little...

Tip for Other Campers:
Went to the National Rt 66 museum. The entrance price was reasonable $8 for 2 seniors. And the ladies there very nice. Some beautiful old cars arranged in scenic, muraled views. But lots of "stuff" kinda packed together in displays to the point that the significance of it gets lost.
“Pretty water view”
Nightly Rate: $24 USD
We enjoyed staying at the park, particularly since it was basically empty. How can you not love having the place to yourself! One thing to note for fall/winter campers was that in site L39, the wind...

Tip for Other Campers:
We thoroughly enjoyed the Will Rogers Memorial Museum, about 40 minutes away.
