Tips from campers about Sulphur, OK
- TripleGLF Chickasaw Cultural Center is located across the road from the campground. Very nice museum and displays throughout the Cultural Center property. Spent about a day to see all of it. Recommended for those who enjoy Indian culture and history. There is a bridge at the rear of the Cultural Center that crosses Rock Creek and goes directly into the Chickasaw Recreation Area. From here it is very close access to Veterans Lake and Rock Creek Campground. Trails here were good bicycle riding.Arbuckle Campground is near much of the hiking in Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Anywhere from 10 to 30-minute drive depending on hiking trails chosen.Park staff at Travertine Nature center was very helpful with hiking and information regarding the Chickasaw Recreation Area. Small museum and exhibits here were quite nice.Veterans Lake in the Chickasaw Recreation Area has very nice walking and bicycle path around the lake.Walmart is less than a mile from the campground.4 months ago Arbuckle RV Resort
- Roy Machado While in the area go see the Chickasaw Cultural Center. Absolutely stunning architecture and scenery. Also check out the Travertine Nature Center and Little Niagara falls. The town of Sulphur is small but it has a Walmart, gas stations and restaurants.5 months ago Buckhorn Campground)
- We Roamed and Rambled The historic section of downtown of Sulphur took a direct hit in April 2024 from an EF-3 tornado, and the area is still in rubble, sadly. Several interesting places to see and experience CCC handiwork in Chickasaw National Recreation Area, formerly Platt National Park until the 1970s.7 months ago Arbuckle RV Resort
