Question: How are the shower houses in Elk Run area? I dont see any pics posted of the bathrooms or showers.

Answer:

I've used that shower -- it's a bit rough. The shower head is so aerated that it cools the already lukewarm water to the point of being borderline cold. You'll survive but you won't be enjoying it by any means....

Question: I noticed RV Campgrounds says in the amenities section that there is a dump station. But when I go to book a site via Rec.go reservation system, there is no mention that I can find that the park has a dump station. Does anybody know for sure that there is a dump station at any of the loops? Thanks.

Answer:

Yes, I've used the dump station there. Search for "35.640575,-106.323788" on Google Maps and you'll see it on the satellite view (it's on the north edge of the camp host mini-loop). This is on the west side of the lake. I don't know if there is a dump on the east side of the lake....

Question: Website indicates this campground is first come, first serve in March 2022. Any thoughts about how busy it might be at the end of March? Trying to plan a trip. Thank you.

Answer:

I used to live nearby and stayed a few times. I don't imagine any problem whatsoever having a good choice of electric/water spots in March. I would wager you'll find only a handful of people there. Make sure you check out nearby Tent Rocks while you're there and take the trail that goes into the mini slot canyon up to the top if you can....
